Yesterday we celebrated the many and varied talents of our St Mary’s students during our annual Talent Show. The excitement had built for several weeks and it was such a joy to see our students from Years 6 to Kindergarten sharing their expertise with their community. A big thanks to Mrs Daniella Cooper who coordinated and auditioned the acts ready for the performance. Congratulations to everyone that participated.
Our Cross Country will hopefully be held next Monday the 4th April, hopefully the weather will be clear on the day. Please let Mrs Katy Reid know if you can help out on the day, we will confirm the event on Sunday night and pray for fine weather.
Next Tuesday we will be holding our Annual Open Day, this is a chance for people to come and experience the many wonderful opportunities that we have to offer. The morning starts at 9:30 am with a presentation then our senior students will be leading tours of the school. If you have a child coming to school next year please feel free to join us or pick up an enrolment pack from the School Office.
Next Friday we will commemorate through liturgy, Jesus’ path through the events of Holy Week. This begins with the entry into Jerusalem or Palm Sunday, then to the Last Supper, washing of the feet, crucifixion and the glory of the Resurrection on Easter Sunday. These events in the life of Jesus reveal so much of his humanity, his humility, the gentleness in the face of adversity and eventually the courage to face his persecutors . Please join us next Friday at 12.00pm for our liturgy.
Easter falls in the middle weekend of the holidays this year and St Mary’s traditionally leads the Stations of the Cross for the Parish community on the Milton Church Hill on Good Friday. It is a large community event and we ask that you bring your children to participate in the disaster liturgies in this meaningful way. The ANZAC Day Service will also fall during the holidays and we have been asked to participate in the Milton march to the War Memorial, this is a significant event in the community and one which has been impacted heavily by COVID, please come and show your support. All students are asked to wear full summer uniform to the march.
Our term will conclude next Friday with an Easter Hat Parade and Raffle. Thanks to all of our families who have sent in raffle tickets and easter prizes. Easter hats will be made in classrooms for the parade, please send in some upcycled decorations which can be shared with the class. You are welcome to join us at 2:30pm for the Easter festivities next Friday.
It has been lovely to welcome our parents back to school events and into school grounds, it feels like our community is finally back together again. Have a wonderful holiday and we look forward to seeing you in Term 2, first day back, Tuesday 26th April.
Yours in partnership
Laurinda Nelson
