Stage Three Canberra Excursion

Students from St Mary’s have recently undertaken an education tour of the national capital. Students were given the opportunity to participate in a variety of educational programs with a focus on Australia’s history, culture, heritage, and democracy.

The Australian Government recognises the importance of all young Australians being able to visit the national capital as part of their Civics and Citizenship education. To assist families in meeting the cost of the excursion the Australian Government is contributing funding to our school in the amount of $20 per student under the Parliament and Civics Education Rebate program towards those costs. The rebate is paid directly to the school upon completion of the excursion.

Jacob McCabe has described his favourite Canberra site - Questacon.

On Wednesday the 18th of September Stage 3 travelled by bus to Canberra. We had lots of places to visit, but my favourite was Questacon. Let me tell you all about it.

First, we went to the earthquake room. You should get in line fast because it is popular because all of the props fell and the TV was lagging.

Have you ever experienced free fall before? Well you better try it; you feel zero gravity and get a rush of adrenaline through your body!

Have you ever made your own Lego shape? Only using six bricks can you make a new shape that nobody has ever made before. It’s a great opportunity to play with Lego if you’ve never used it before.

So go along to Questacon today for an action packed day of fun. You can even take your family or your friends. I guarantee they won’t be disappointed.
