GOOD FIT BOOKS: K-2
This term we are using the acronym of I PICK to help guide our younger students when selecting books to read in the library and to take home.
This week we are exploring two more ways to know if a book is a good- fit.
C is COMPREHENSION understanding what you read and K is for KNOW most of the words.
We must pick books for our interest and purpose and ones that fit for us to be successful just like we pick shoes. We all need to have books that fit our purpose and interest along with our being able to know the words and comprehend what they say. I used a picture book, a good fit chapter book and a finance magazine/book in which we can read the words but can't explain what the articles mean thus modelling a lack of comprehension. Students are applying what they are learning and are being my purposeful in selecting good-fit books during library borrowing time.
