Principal's Report
Dear Parents and Carers,
"A world that looks to the future without a mother’s gaze is shortsighted."
— Pope Francis, January 2019
This weekend as we celebrate Mother’s Day, we are reminded of the profound influence that mothers have on our lives, especially in the nurturing of faith, love, and character in our children.
In our Catholic tradition, we look to Mary, the Mother of Jesus, as the perfect example of maternal love, courage, and devotion. Her faithfulness, her quiet strength, and her unwavering trust in God are qualities we see echoed in so many of the mothers in our school community. Whether in the everyday routines of preparing lunches, helping with homework, or simply offering a reassuring hug, mothers sow seeds of kindness, resilience, and grace in the hearts of their children.
At school, we see the fruits of this love every day—in the confidence of a child answering a question in class, the joy of students sharing their learning, and the compassion shown between peers. Behind each of these moments is often a mother, grandmother, aunt, or carer who has nurtured and guided them with selfless love.
This week, our students have been preparing beautiful cards, prayers, and gifts to celebrate the mothers in their lives. Today we gathered in prayer during our special Mother’s Day liturgy, asking God to bless all mothers with strength, peace, and abundant love.
This week, just in time for Mother’s Day, we celebrate the arrival of Mrs Hedger’s beautiful twin boys, Charlie and Ollie. We congratulate Mum and Dad and big brother Elijah, we can’t wait to meet the precious new additions to the Hedger family.
To all the mothers and those who care like mothers in our community: thank you. Your vocation is a sacred one, and we honour your vital role in forming not only the heads, but the hearts and hands of the next generation.
Wishing you all a joyful and restful Mother’s Day.
Yours in partnership
