PRINCIPAL REPORT

Dear Parents & Carers,

This week we are celebrating the creative spirit of St Mary’s with our Monet and Morning tea on Friday at 9:30am. This exhibition and art experience is part of the parish Mission Week which is being held all week at various events and venues throughout the local area. Much of the art on exhibit is inspired by faith and the expression of children’s understanding of faith through the creative arts. What a powerful tool to explore the mystery of spirituality and to express the beauty and transcendence of God in our universe. We welcome the Mission Team (including the Missionaries of God’s Love) on Friday morning to meet our community, please feel welcome to come along and have a cuppa, walk through the gallery and make beautiful artworks with and of your child. We will conclude with a liturgy to celebrate creativity and the gift of art in our community.

Please have a look at the Mission Week schedule and join in the fun over the weekend including a special night for Years 5 to 8 on Friday night at the school hall for Activ8 from 6-8pm for dinner, music, games and  fun.  On Sunday there is a Family Fun Fair on Mollymook Beach at 2pm, followed by the Family Mass at 5pm at Ulladulla Church. It is a great way to meet other families and have fun as well. Thanks to Father Michael and his leadership team for their passion and enthusiasm to develop this week and take on the enormous responsibility of planning an entire week of faith and fun. This Monday our year 6 will be joined by the Year 6 students from St Michael’s Nowra to ‘Activate’ Retreat day in preparation for Confirmation on the 20th June. A big thanks to Mrs Gabrielle Peters for her planning and organising of this significant event.

On Friday, our Environmental leaders will be representing St Mary’s at the Regrow Conjola presentation. Our students have been nurturing these tiny seedlings for several months and now they will be made available to the residents of Conjola as they rebuild their homes and gardens. Thanks to Convoy of Hope and Kevin Cassanego  from the project for enabling this initiative in our school.

I look forward to seeing you in our school soon.

Yours in partnership

Laurinda Nelson.
