The Story of Pentecost
After Jesus was resurrected, he spent the next forty days being with his eleven disciples and closest friends. Jesus loved to go to the top of his favourite mountain to pray. One day his disciples followed him to the top of the mountain. Jesus said, “Be strong now that I am leaving you.” Suddenly, Jesus started to ascend into the clouds. The disciples couldn't believe their eyes.
The disciples were puzzled. Then suddenly, out of nowhere, two angels appeared. They told the disciples that Jesus had been taken to heaven and will come back to earth. They were so happy that Jesus was still with them.
The disciples decided to go and pray together in Jerusalem. They went to the second storey of the building. It was a very dark room. They were silent. Then a giant gust of wind came. Then little tongues of fire appeared above the disciples' heads. They started speaking different languages.
The people of Jerusalem thought these people were drunk. A man called Peter went and stood up in front of the crowd. Peter said, “These people have been baptized and been given the Holy Spirit too. If you get baptized you will be given the Holy Spirit too.”
Then people started to get baptized down near the lake. This is how Pentecost was a day to be celebrated.

In year 3, we have reflected on social justice issues globally and locally that are most concerning to us. In Religion, we explored how it is our personal responsibility to take action and how prayer is a powerful tool to help take action.
