PRINCIPAL'S REPORT

Dear Parents and Carers

I hope everyone enjoyed the lovely long weekend. It was certainly a mixed blessing to see the cars snaking into Milton on Friday afternoon. Semester One Reports for Years 1-6 will be released on Monday of Week 10, the final week of term. After each reporting period we invite all parents and carers to come in for Parent/ Teacher Interviews between Monday 27th - Wed 29th, bookings can be made on Compass. Kindergarten do not receive formal reports in Semester One, parents are invited to come in for a Parent / Teacher Interview in Weeks 9 or 10. These conversations between teachers and parents are crucial in continuing the partnership between home and school.

Last week we enjoyed a day of field events on the back oval. It was a wonderful day organised by Mrs Katy Reid, with the support of staff and parents. Enormous thanks to Katy for her great organisation and coordination of the day. Today we have all travelled to Lighthouse Oval to hold the running events, it was very exciting for Kindergarten to have a bus ride, many for the first time. It was also great to have so many parents enjoying the day with us, well done to our colour house captains for their enthusiastic leadership.

Our Mini Vinnies team are planning their annual Souper Hero Day on Thursday 30th June, this day is a wonderful fundraiser highlighting the plight of the homeless. Students are able to dress up as their favourite ‘Souper Hero’ on the day, and our team sets up a soup kitchen selling soup to support the homeless in our community. Homelessness in our community has become so prevalent for a number of reasons, support is urgently required by so many.

There will be two Pupil Free days attached to the upcoming holidays, on Friday 1st July, the staff will be attending a day of Professional Learning on Mathematics, this will be a Pupil Free day for all students, with Term 2 ending on Thursday 30th June. Term 3 will commence on Tuesday, 19th July as staff will be attending a spirituality day on Monday 18th July.

I look forward to seeing lots of you at the disco tonight!,

Yours in partnership

Laurinda Nelson
