Recently in Visual Arts every class focused on creating expressionistic sunflowers in the style of Vincent Van Gogh. Students were able to demonstrate an interest in and knowledge of Vincent Van Gogh as an artist who painted sunflowers. We created an adaptation of his Sunflower Series with a mixed medium art project of paint, paper mache, crepe paper, fabric and foliage. The students thoroughly enjoyed this task and took a deep appreciation of Vincent Van Gogh’s work. I encourage students and parents to view some of our St Mary’s Sunflower Series currently on display in the school front reception foyer.
