Year 2 has been learning about length and the importance of measuring with formal units such as the meter. We worked in pairs to make a meter length and tested it in various ways. Some pairs created their length with 5 x 20cm parts, others used 3 x 30cm parts with a 10cm added. Others estimated and then compared to the meter ruler. We had a great discussion about how in maths we can find the answer many different ways. Next we used our lengths to compare objects in the classroom and outside. Fun!!
